Belief is a powerful thing. It can propel you forward (empowering). It can hold you back (limiting). It can prop you up (encouraging). It can hold you down (belittling).

Today’s encouragement: Start identifying and rooting out beliefs you hold that are limiting or belittling. A simple way to approach this:

  1. Brainstorm things you cannot do. Do not judge, just write them down.
  2. Read your list out loud. No judgment, just say what you wrote.
  3. Walk away for 30 minutes.
  4. Read each item out loud to yourself. Answer the following:
    1. Is this belief valid, limiting, or belittling?
    2. Is this really true?
    3. Am I saying this or did I hear it from someone else?
    4. Do I agree with this?
    5. Does this need to be reframed?

Nothing is too small or insignificant, nor is it an exercise to forensically expose you. The idea is to get started. Because rooting out limiting or belittling beliefs feels good. You’ll start to feel lighter, more positive. More confident.

The best way forward is to get out of your own way. Be courageous. Be curious. Be compassionate. Generate confidence. Generate clarity.
