For those of us lucky enough to have kids in 2013, the words “let it go” immediately sparked a reaction. Heck, it probably sparked a reaction whether you had kids or not. Love it or hate it, when you read those three words, the melody of the title track for Frozen played in your head.
Where in life are you frozen (or drifting)? Frozen meaning stuck, unmoving, and drifting meaning aimless, easily pushed about. Neither state allows you to move forward. What do you need to let go of to get unfrozen, to stop drifting?
Today’s encouragement: take inventory in the areas of your life where you have felt or are feeling either frozen or drifting. No judgment allowed. This isn’t a self-deprecating exercise, it’s an exercise to bring your attention to things that need your attention.
Once you’ve identified where you’re frozen or drifting, ask yourself why. Chances are high it’s because of something in your past. Let this be an encouragement to you: You can let the past go.
It may require counseling, coaching, or coffee, but letting the past keep you from moving forward in the present will cost you your future.
Let it go. Don’t hold yourself back anymore.
