“There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.” ~ Beverly Sills
I’ve had quite a few conversations with lots of people around the decision to start my own business and be a coach. It’s given me the chance to practice and learn quickly. One of the areas I’ve grown in is the ability to assess someone’s mindset with one simple question. How do you feel about change?
From my informal research, it seems the word “change” causes one of three reactions with the vast majority falling into the second bucket.
- Nope, that’s not for me.
- Yeah, I know, but…
- I love change!
This seems to indicate that you know the areas where change is in your best interest. You just need to start building up an excitement around and confidence in your ability to deal with it.
To experience moving forward today, find one thing internally you’ve felt the pull toward changing that you have been resisting and take a small step toward changing it. Managing change internally strengthens and prepares you to manage change externally.
Growth only comes from, and absolutely requires, change.
