The Year of “You Can”
Welcome to 2025! It’s a new year. A chance to experience new challenges, new opportunities, and a new you. Are you excited for it? Do you have a sense of eager anticipation to what “new” is coming your way?
To experience moving forward, forget resolutions and regrets. Leave 2024 in the past where it belongs, and wipe away the perspective that you “can’t” replacing it with an attitude that you “can”. Here are three tips on how to make 2025 the year of “you can”.
- Control your perspective. Perspective is the way you construct an explanation for yourself and things around you. It also shapes what new things you are willing to expose yourself to and the places you are willing to explore. “You can” starts with telling yourself “you can” do something new. The only one holding yourself back is you.
- Direct your actions properly and purposefully. Properly meaning in the best interest of yourself and others. Purposefully meaning to accomplish that which you are here to accomplish. “You can” take a step (action) forward each day to grow into your true and authentic self.
- Willingly accept what is outside of your control. There are things you can control and things you cannot. “You can” control your choices. “You can” control your attitude. “You can” be intentional without attachment to outcomes depending on things outside of your control. Forget the things you can’t do and focus on the things “you can”.
This week, commit to taking 5 minutes a day answering the following 2 questions:
- What new thing am I excited about? What is in my control and what is not?
- What actions am I being drawn to take? What is in my control and what is not?
