From above anonymous person in sneakers walking on asphalt path on city street

This morning I was assigned station number six at the polls. It caught my attention because the number six has been my favorite number ever since childhood. Generally speaking, I’ve experienced positive things when the number six is involved. It’s become my lucky number.

During my reading time a little bit later, I read the seven things John Maxwell suggests doing to become a growth-oriented person. Here is the list:

  1. Embrace Change.
  2. Adopt a Teachable Spirit
  3. Make Your Love for Learning Greater than Your Fear of Failure
  4. Develop Relationships with Other Growing People
  5. Develop Greater Humility
  6. Believe in Yourself
  7. Embrace Layered Learning

Maxwell goes on to say that “what you think about yourself determines the investment you will make in yourself. “ Lately, there is a lot of F.U.D.G.E. in my perspective so when I read number six, it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Perhaps the message to “Believe in Yourself” is something you need to experience today. Take a few minutes to stop and contemplate it. Where are the areas you don’t and what are the actions or inactions that support that belief.

To experience moving forward, take one action step you’ve not allowed yourself to take because of a lack of belief in yourself. Call that person, take that class, pitch that idea, write that article, suggest that change.

Belief in yourself starts with believing in yourself.
