Reframe Perspectives

frame“External things are not the problem. It’s your assessment of them. Which you can erase right now.” ~ Marcus Aurelius

In every instant, you’re being bombarded with data being received by your senses. Events and objects leave mental impressions from which you create a photocopy, or perception. Any time a copy of something is made, it never accurately depicts the original exactly. Enter the human tendency to add color and detail to facsimile.

Marcus Aurelius’ advice is to recognize (and act on) the fact that you are the author of your own perceptions. How you frame something in your mind has incredible power to frame how you behave outwardly. Said another way, your behavior is simply an expression of the way you’re thinking.

Moving forward requires you to be in touch with your own perceptions. In particular, your perceptions regarding yourself. How you perceive your worth, value, gifts, talents, tendencies, triggers, abilities, luck, skill, habits, preferences, character, etc. sets the way in which you view and express yourself.

What are the self perceptions you need to reframe in order to move forward faster?
